September 2010 marked the 15th anniversary of my ballet career with the Mariinsky Theater. For a professional classical ballet dancer, this is plenty of time to discover the difficulties of this profession, to understand the role of this form of art in public life and, in parallel, to establish oneself as an authoritative person in the world of ballet.
Today, based on this experience, I would like to say and do something more for the art and for society in my own name, to go beyond the routine performance of ballet repertoire. Unfortunately, it is difficult for one person to accomplish such big, significant goals.
That is why I decided to establish the Diana Vishneva Foundation for the Coordinated Development of Ballet, which I hope will unite organizations' and individuals' efforts and capabilities in order to achieve its cultural, charitable, and creative goals.
