Two years later, the artistic director of the ABT, Kevin McKenzie, invited Vishneva to become a permanent dancer with the company. During her thirteen seasons at ABT, she danced in eighteen ballets staged by famous contemporary choreographers, including the main roles in "Sylvia," "The Dream," and "Thaïs Pas de Deux" (choreography by Frederick Ashton); "On the Dnieper," "The Ninth Symphony," and "Sleeping Beauty" (choreography by Alexei Ratmansky); "Lady of the Camellias" (choreography by John Neumeier); and "Onegin" (choreography by John Cranko). Her partners were the leading soloists of the theater: David Hallberg, Herman Cornejo, Angel Corella, and Marcelo Gomes, who accompanied her in most of her roles. Her last performance on the American Ballet Theater stage was in 2017. However, Diana Vishneva continued to tour around the world and work on solo projects ("Beauty in Motion," "Dialogues," "On the Edge"). While still a classical ballet dancer with a diverse repertoire, she also began to delve into modern choreography, which has become an equally valid part of her artistic life and personality. Diana views modern dance as a source of a different kind of energy, a way to expand creative and individual boundaries, and ultimately, a new step in the evolution of classical repertoire. Diana Vishneva was the first Russian classical ballet dancer to perform the choreography of famous masters of the 20th and 21st centuries: Pina Bausch and Martha Graham, Ohad Naharin and Marco Goecke, Paul Lightfoot and Sol Leon. She has collaborated with today's most prominent choreographers, including Mats Ek, John Neumeier, Hans van Manen, Alexei Ratmansky, Carolyn Carlson, Mauro Bigonzetti, Jean-Christophe Maillot, and Jiří Kylián. Each of these projects has contributed to the development of joint creative ideas and continuing mastery. She actually invented a new genre: Art & Dance Performance, combining dance, music, contemporary art, and revolutionary digital technologies which had never been used on stage before. It was presented in 2019 in cooperation with choreographer Edward Clug, media artist Tobias Gremmler, musician Thijs de Vlieger from the Dutch drum and bass band Noisia, and artist Bart Hess. Together, they staged the unique program "Sleeping Beauty Dreams." In 2013 Diana Vishneva founded the international festival of contemporary choreography "Context. Diana Vishneva," for which she also served as the artistic director. The idea was to set up a creative international venue, an experimental platform for young talented choreographers and dancers. The "Context" program features performances by the world's leading creative teams, contests for young Russian choreographers, creative sessions, workshops, master classes, and film exhibitions. Diana Vishneva maintains an awareness of social responsibility as well. In 2010 she established the Foundation for the Coordinated Development of Ballet. In 2017 she opened her St. Petersburg-based "Studio Context" dance studio with the principal aim of making dancing accessible for professionals and amateurs alike.
